Better Business Decisions Begin With Confidence, Not Guesswork

One thing I’ve noticed after more than ten years working in accounting is that many business owners apologise before we even begin talking.

They apologise because their bookkeeping isn’t perfect.

They apologise because they don’t understand financial reports.

They apologise because they think they should already know the answers.

The interesting part is that they usually know their business extremely well. They understand their customers, their industry and how to deliver a great service. What they’re lacking isn’t business experience. It’s confidence in their financial information.

I’ve never believed accounting should make people feel uncomfortable or out of their depth.

When business owners understand what their numbers are telling them, they make better decisions. They stop second-guessing themselves, plan ahead with greater confidence and spend less time worrying about whether they’ve missed something important.

That’s why I created Best-Assistant Accounting Ltd. I help businesses across Winslow understand their finances in plain English, so accounting becomes something that supports growth rather than something to be feared.

Meet The Accountant Behind Best-Assistant

Hello, I’m Polina, Founder and Director of Best-Assistant Accounting Ltd.

I’ve spent more than ten years working with sole traders, family businesses, creative agencies and growing SMEs, helping owners feel more confident about the financial side of running a business.

Throughout my career, I realised many people weren’t looking for complicated accounting advice. They wanted someone who could explain things clearly, answer questions without judgement and help them understand what the numbers actually meant.

That shaped the practice I wanted to build.

When you work with me, you’ll always deal directly with me. I believe accounting should feel approachable. If something doesn’t make sense, I’ll explain it in straightforward language until you’re comfortable making decisions based on the information in front of you.

I’m AAT Level 3 qualified and currently completing AAT Level 4. I also hold an ICB Level 3 Diploma in Payroll Management, I’m an Associate Member of ACIPP, and Best-Assistant Accounting Ltd is AML registered, ICO registered and professionally insured.

Understanding Your Numbers Changes The Way You Run Your Business

One of the biggest changes I see after clients join me isn’t in their bookkeeping.

It’s in their confidence.

At the beginning, many business owners rely on bank balances when deciding whether they can afford new equipment, recruit another employee or take on larger projects.

A few months later, those same decisions are being made using management reports, cash flow information and a clearer understanding of future tax commitments.

Clients frequently tell me they feel more in control because they finally understand what the figures are saying.

For me, that’s one of the most rewarding parts of the job. Good accounting shouldn’t leave you with more questions than answers. It should give you the confidence to move your business forward.

What You Can Expect During Your First Few Months

Case Study: Helping A Winslow Creative Agency Recruit With Confidence

The Challenge

A growing creative agency had secured several long-term clients and wanted to employ another designer. Although work was increasing, the owner wasn’t confident the business could comfortably support another salary. Monthly reports existed, but they weren’t being used to guide decisions.

What We Did

I reviewed approximately 810 transactions, improved the bookkeeping process, introduced structured monthly management reporting and worked with the owner to explain cash flow, future tax commitments and projected staffing costs in straightforward terms.

The Result

Within four months, administration time reduced by around 22% and reporting became much easier to understand. More importantly, the owner gained the confidence to recruit knowing the decision was supported by reliable financial information rather than instinct.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you're looking at the figures but still feel unsure what action to take, it's worth reviewing them with your accountant. Understanding the story behind the numbers is just as important as producing the reports themselves.

As soon as possible. Regular monthly reviews help you spot trends early and make decisions with more confidence throughout the year.

Yes. Confidence usually comes from understanding your financial position rather than guessing. Clear reporting removes much of the uncertainty around business decisions.

Before recruiting, it's sensible to review cash flow, expected income, payroll costs and future commitments so you understand the long-term impact rather than just the immediate salary.

Very common. Many successful business owners know their industry inside out but have never had someone explain accounting information in practical, straightforward language.

Confidence Comes From Understanding, Not Guessing

The strongest business decisions are rarely based on instinct alone. They come from understanding what your financial information is telling you and feeling confident enough to act on it.
